NC Foothills Race for the Cure 10th Anniversary

June 8, 2009

The North Carolina NC Foothills Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®—along with those who generously support us with their talent, time and resources—is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in our community. We join more than 100,000 breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer. Through events like the Komen NC Foothills Race for the Cure, we have invested more than $1 million in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba Counties. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Komen NC Foothills Affiliate are used locally.  The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program for energizing science to find the cures.

Our Affiliate began in 1999, with a core group of volunteers. The first Race was held in October, 2000 in Lenoir. Now in addition to the Race, our Affiliate oversees a variety of educational, outreach, and fundraising activities throughout the year. It is important to note that our Affiliate is an all volunteer organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please see our Volunteer section.

Thank you for joining us for our 10th annual Race for the Cure. Without you this event would not be possible.
